Veteran real estate man Thorn Ward to PC

In December, Thorn Ward sent an application to the Planning Commission to Rich Hartman, a PC board member who was recently elected but not yet a member of OS City Council. Hartman forwarded it to Mayor Jon Martin, who in turn emailed City Clerk Sara Logan, asking is there was any potential conflict of interest. *The North Beach News emailed Martin this morning, asking if he had received an answer; as of early this afternoon, he had not replied.

On tonight’s city council agenda: “Mayor to appoint Thorn Ward to the Planning Commission with Council consensus.”

The Planning Commission’s mission statement:

The Planning Commission of the City of Ocean Shores is committed to contributing to the enhancement of the quality of life in Ocean Shores through thoughtful consideration and implementation of comprehensive planning policies and land use regulations. We deliver this by:
 Providing quality service to the community
 Encouraging and stimulating citizen involvement
 Promoting good planning and proactive problem solving
 Recognizing and following our City Code and Ordinances
