Disdaining a request to put the Bathke on a future, Mayor Crystal Dingler made it clear she wants to move on — offering no apologies or acceptance of responsibility, though a judge put her fully at fault for improperly firing the former OS fire chief.
Announcing a $720,000 payout in a press release, Dingler said, “We can finally put this behind us and move our focus toward further developing our Fire Department and strengthening our EMS and Fire service.”
Some council members and citizens, however, are looking for an investigation. The judge’s ruling, for example, showed leaders of the firefighters union pressuring Dingler to fire Bathke, “or we’ll go to the press.”
