Apologies, Shangri-lan!

To the gentleman who was “disturbed” by the North Beach News asking the multi-tasking new mayor if he had time for the job and wondered “why would the newspaper have to print this kind of article?”…then, when I repeated my standard line (“I’m doing it because no one else is”), he responded “maybe nobody else is doing it because level headed people know negative activity does not do anyone any good look at the last election.”

A thousand apologies, sir! I had no idea you live in Shangri-la-by-the-Sea, where nothing ever goes wrong and leaders have only the interests of their residents in mind–as opposed to Ocean Shores, where….Well, at least O.S. isn’t as bad as Atlantis City (as we shall see again, soon-ish)…

Nice response! I think that was a perfectly legitimate question. But that’s just my opinion. If I offended anybody too bad.

Perhaps the real problem that some have with legitimate questions is that truthful answers just don’t fit their version of reality. Seems to be a lot of that around lately.

I remember your Atlantis City comparison. I don’t think the City of Ocean Shores as a whole is Shangra La, and it never will be! Why? Simply because you cannot make everyone happy while you try to accommodate their needs. Everybody wants everything. But not everybody is willing to help pay for those wants. Some want what they want for free ….they will bitch like hell if they have to pay a $2 more a month on a utility bill. The rest of us know that nothing is free, so we will sacrifice a latte a month to help fund the fresh waterways. We will consolidate our trips to town because we would rather support our city than purchase another gallon of gas. As soon as they understand we are all in this together … the better off Ocean Shores will he.

No offence, but the latte analogy is getting old, Some people are out of latte money long ago. If the city was more fiscally responsible and not waste money on numerouse wants instead of needs the money would easily be there for the waterways. Maybe the new mayor will see other needs besides the few, the last mayor seemed to favor.
